Hey everyone!

Note: This post was originally posted by me to BASIS Tucson North's Senior Project page on February 9th, 2018. It was my very first blog post, but it is important to this guitar build, and the next 10 or so blog posts will be transfers of old posts to this site.

Hello,

Unfortunately, at the moment, I am ill, and have not really been able to work on my guitar build, which I was going to start this week. I have, however, created a basic model of the guitar in the CAD (Computer Assisted Design) program known as Solidworks. It took me quite a while to get it the way I wanted it, because I rarely ever use Solidworks, and the headstock isn’t quite how I want it to be, but hey, it’ll do for now. I have bought some wood for the neck: maple and rosewood. I plan on beginning work on the neck over the weekend, but I am still waiting on a couple of parts to arrive in the mail. I ordered a truss rod, which will be used to keep the neck straight, and some fret wire a couple of days ago. The fret wire I can do without at the moment, but the truss rod will be inside the neck, so I’m going to need to wait for it first. I think I could get the bulk of the work done within the first day of working on it, but again, I need that part to go farther. Well, somewhere on this page, there will some screenshots of the 3d model, and on it, you can see the slot where the truss rod will be. The fretboard is not attached in this screenshot (because Solidworks is a little finicky and I’m not exactly sure how to use it)
